The place was very easy to find, with parking facilities at th rear. Bar area is nice, light and modern. Staff all very friendly

The place is now very tired looking and the pictures on the web are very misleading. There is clearly not enough staff as my very first introduction was to wait for 10mins to be served at the bar. My friends had a room with patio doors leading out to what should have been a lovely outside area. Unfortunately, the patio was covered in moss and the furniture was too dirty to sit on!!! For the money and the description it is not what you would expect.

      Good location. Good food.

Didn't like the wooden boarded bed in Room 24! Thought the service in Gigot though friendly wasn't on the pace.

Friendliness of staff and desire to help. Good location, close to centre of town and away from highway noise. Food was excellent.

The stairs to the second floor rooms need redesigning.

Food was excellent - very fine dinner and good breakfast - comfortable room - lovely weekend!

It was very clean and comfortable. The food was good - we had bar food which was good value and service was friendly. Breakfast was very nice indeed and service was prompt. I would say the cleanliness was also very good standard. All in all, a pleasant stay.

We had room 27 (not the "King Room" originally assigned to us). The bathroom was a bit shabby - shower rail very wonky, grouting coming away from the wall and many areas poorly finished. Two separate hot and cold taps (which may or may not bother you) It allows pets, but because of the location of 27 ("Garden Rooms" - about 6 other rooms in the block) one instance of (day time) barking was not looked upon kindly. Presumably other guests may have complained, which is fair enough. However if you are thinking of taking yer average dog there, unless it is muzzled and/or like us you ensure all the windows are closed and have an anti-bark collar (we forgot to apply both these "rules" during one lunch time), this is not a good choice. I would say that it is less "up-market" than the web site gives the impression of- the reception area, for example, looks a bit run-down. I worked on reception in London hotels for many years so would probably notice more than the average person. Not sure why some hotels don't have freeview yet, so it was a standard old TV with just 5 channels.

Cost of evening meal too high

Cosy country hotel with comfortable, well appointed room and more than adequate breakfast.

Service was nothing special. We could easily have been in a chain hotel based on the interest shown to us as customers.

The general level of service throughout the Hotel could not be faulted. The standard of food served was excellent. The location was good for our needs.

The bedroom was very small and we felt cramped. The car parking was hardly adequate. Having said that neither was a real problem for a short stay - a longer stay may have been different.

The roof of the dining room was covered with grape vines! very nice added to the whole atmosphere.

I loved the food. The care taken with each course was very evident. The bed was really comfy but we both had a real problem with the heat in both bedroom & bathroom was like a sauna. I meant to say this when leaving, but forgot. It must b unbearable warm in Summer! I dont think the fan would do the job of making room fresh. This is unfortunate as no need for this degree of heat and wasteful of our planets resources. thank you for super dinner & breakfast.M Carpenter

The adjoining restaurants to the hotel served great food and really convenient for eating as a family with a young baby. Right in the centre of stow on the wold, so easy access to the town. The staff were really friendly and helpful.

The hotel room was small and not very clean in places. The walls were paper thin so we were disturbed by neighbouring rooms and constantly on edge thinking that we might be disturbing them. The room also needed a lick up paint and tidy, just felt a bit rough round the edges.

The hotel staff were really friendly, the hotel itself was warm and welcoming, room was good and bedding was clean and crisp. We eat in the restuarant and food was excellent. Overall a good weekend away.

There was nothing I could fault with the hotel other than the fire could have been lit in the lounge to encourage another drink after the evening meal - it was February

    • Older travelers
      6.6

      Location, friendly staff.

Room too small for size of bed, tired decor/fixtures, cleanliness could have been better - excessive build-up of dust and fluff in places.

    • Older travelers
      8.8

The warm welcome and excellent cuisine.

The 'muddy' state of the car park at the rear of the hotel.
